Of the estimated twenty-one million people that put up with heartburn symptoms, many choose to  suffer in silence rather than to seek professional help. There are almost as many heart patients who also are quite about their symptoms. All of this in spite of the fact that, even though the are not related, heartburn and heart attacks share some of the same symptoms. In some cases, it takes a medical professional to properly diagnose these conditions.

You Should Consult Your Doctor If You Display Any Heart Attack Or Heartburn Symptoms

There is little question that heart attacks and heartburn are not related because there are little differences in the symptoms.

While there is plenty of chest pain during a heart attack, the pain related to heartburn is more of a burning sensation towards the center of the chest. Sweating, shortness of breath and nausea with vomiting are also more related to heart attacks than to heartburn. These are not present with heartburn.  If you experience any such symptoms, call your doctor immediately.

While heart attack and heartburn are not related, chronic heartburn can be a sign of a more hazardous condition. Even though you have a burning in your chest with heartburn, it has nothing to do at all with a heart attack. The only thing they really have in common is the word heart.

One seemingly ironic fact is that some of the medications that are used to treat and prevent heart attacks may, in fact, cause heartburn in some patients. You should always check with your doctor when taking this type of medication.

With no obvious relationship between heart attack and heartburn, it makes it necessary to determine what differences there are between the two.

In a typical heart attack situation, a symptom starts as a “tightness” or pressure in the center of the chest. It can spread to the shoulders and neck and also radiate down the arms, mostly affecting the left side of the patients body.

Where as symptoms of
heartburn appear as a burning sensation that can occur in the breastbone area and ribs and can spread up into the throat. It usually happens right after eating a meal.

Poor eating habits are usually a common factor in both heart attack and heartburn patients. This will affect their health in a bad way. And as well, your genetics play a big part in determining how your body will handle this situation.

It's really important to know the difference between a heart attack and the pain of heartburn.
Once you know the difference, you can take the proper, timely action and call your doctor.
